One Year Checkup

This afternoon was Kenna's one year checkup. As usual, he found her to be perfect. Much to our surprise, she is in the 50th percentile for height! Only 25th for weight though. She weighed in at 19lbs 10 oz. This is down slightly from where she was about a month ago when we were there for an ear checkup. He is guessing that is from a growth spurt and being more mobile.

She got 4 shots and after the typical hyperventilating silent cry, she bounced back quickly. Then we had to go down to the lab to have blood drawn for an iron test and anemia test. Ummmm...#1 no one told me this was part of the one year checkup and #2 I thought it would be a finger prick but oh no, they drew blood just as if she were an adult. I felt so bad for her! She did pretty well though considering the little strap on her arm and the needle two inches from her face. The lab tech was not overly friendly but luckily very good at her job so it went quickly.

Our current mission is to break her of the bottle and pacifier. This appears to be more difficult for Daddy than Kenna. I'm all about just doing it in a week and being done. Ryan is softer than I am. :) Kenna has done well and gone to bed without a bottle the past two nights. She still gets a bottle in the morning though. As for the pacifier, it is still only allowed at bedtime.
