Just got back from the orthopedic specialist. He was very good and Maci loved him. After a million questions and some poking, the doctor decided we should get an MRI. Seems simple right? Not so much. Maci will need to be sedated/put under so we have to get a physical from her pediatrician and apparently it can take awhile to get her in as they don't do many MRIs on children.
At this point, he thinks it can be a couple things. The first is juvenile arthritis which I'm strongly hoping it is not. The second is an issue with her meniscus. I was a little confused by his explanation but basically it isn't growing properly causing her knee to 'lock up'. It is possible for this to come and go as she gets older but it is correctable with surgery. It is different for everyone. Some people can have this issue their whole life but never experience any problems.
Long story short, things could be a lot worse and I'm very happy she isn't in pain. Hopefully we are able to schedule the MRI within the next couple weeks and get things figured out!
